La Retraite School

Neilcott has been appointed to design and construct a new integrated movement and dance facility as a stand alone unit for La Retraite School, Clapham.  The works were procured using a two stage design and build method procurement method.  The foundations will be constructed as a reinforced concrete raft on short-bored piles.  The structural walls, floors and roof will be of a cross laminated timber design.  The client wished to embrace a partnering philosophy upon this project and Neilcott were appointed on the basis of:

  • A positive attitude in respect of new construction techniques and exchange of information
  • Knowledge and experience of working with the forms of construction proposed for the project, notably the use of cross-laminated timber structure technology
  • The flexibility to meet ever changing and demanding requirements
  • The adoption of a “no blame” culture and co-operation with the Employer to avoid/overcome problems
