Civic Trust Awards – Update

In total 238 entries were received for this year’s awards and after a rigorous first phase assessment, 134 schemes were considered to be of merit by the team of volunteer assessors.  From this list of “Regional Finalists” 79 were selection by the National Panel for national/international recognition and the Clarence Centre undertaken on behalf of the London South Bank University was one such project.  The Centre is a university based innovation and incubator centre containing a range of flexible office spaces, support facilities as well as a public cafe and gallery.  The project is part of an integrated estate strategy with the Clarence Centre acting as the University’s north western “anchor” to improve links and connectivity with its local community and context.  The planning application required an extensive consultation process including the local community, university stakeholders and heritage bodies.
