2015 RICS Awards

RICS-AwardThe RICS Awards showcase the most inspirational regional initiatives and developments in land, property, construction and the built environment.  We are delighted that The Clarence Centre for Enterprise and Innovation at London South Bank University was winner in the Regeneration Category in London, beating off developments at Kings Cross, Brent Civic Centre and housing within the Olympic park.  This award showcases exceptional improvements to urban, rural or coastal areas and projects that have conserved or improved the built or natural environment in a way that has contributed to the viability of the area.  The judges said “Funded by the London South Bank University, this project re-uses seventeen derelict, Grade II Listed Georgian terraced buildings and a former public house within the university’s Southwark campus.  The Challenge was to create a modern facility within the historic setting that was both permeable and flexible, ensuring that its new uses were evident.  The project has transformed these heritage buildings and brought them back into use as start-up units for small businesses, helping the overall regeneration process in the wider area.  Set around an attractive courtyard, the Clarence Centre forms a physical link between the university and the changes now taking place in the wider Southwark area.”
