Brick Tower Challenge at Ronald Ross School

Construction came to Mr Manning’s Year 4 class recently, who undertook an exciting team activity where groups of students acted as small construction companies planning, designing, costing and constructing a tower made from Lego bricks.  The activity started with Powerpoint presentation based around tower building design and usage.  Some of the tallest towers in the UK and around the rest of the World were reviewed, together with one interesting fact about each building.  The challenge promotes team working, problem solving and communication skills through a simulated construction project.  The winners were the team who could build the tallest tower, for the cheapest cost (least bricks) and in the fastest time, with the added complication of having to balance a cream egg upon the top!DSC00261
