Ground breaking Ceremony for new Upton Primary School

The official ground breaking which marks the start of work on site for the new £6.7m school for the London Borough of Bexley took place on Thursday 6th November 2008.

Cllr Simon Windle, Deputy Leader of the London Borough of Bexley and Cabinet Member for Schools, Adult Education and Youth Service said: ‘I am very pleased to have been here at the very start of the building works that will develop a new Upton School with wonderful modern facilities for the school’s pupils. I look forward to returning on site to see the project completed next year.’

Neilcott Construction Ltd are the main contractors for this challenging Design and Build project. The original school, located in Bexleyheath, was built in the 1930’s and has since had a number of additions. The existing school will remain in operation during construction and will relocate to the new facilities upon completion, following which a subsequent phase of site clearance and associated hard and soft landscaping will commence.

Neilcott are currently on site with 8 major Education projects and a further 23 planned Children’s Centres across Kent.
