National Apprenticeship Week 2016

National Apprenticeship Week is coordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service and is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and traineeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.  Neilcott believe that there has never been a better time to employ an apprentice or a trainee.  Hiring apprentices help businesses to grow their own talent by developing a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce.  The National Apprenticeship Service provides a dedicated service to employers, offering free expert advice and support to those looking to recruit apprentices or take on a trainee for the first time, or expand their existing programmes.   Neilcott is delighted to support the 2016 National Apprenticeship Week and more information on taking an apprentice of offering a traineeship can be obtained from the National Apprenticeship Service on 0800 150 600 or www.gov.uk and search “apprenticeships” or “trainees”. The ninth annual National Apprenticeship Week takes place from 14-18 March, 2016 with hundreds of events expected to take place across England.  Every year the Week increases in popularity and National Apprenticeship Week 2015 was a huge success.  Events that took place ranged from business events designed to encourage more employers to recruit apprentices, to interactive careers events aimed at potential apprentices.

For 2016, supporters are being encouraged to organise events and activity around that will help to celebrate the overarching theme “Rise to the Top”.  Neilcott are involved with a number of these being organised at local Schools and Colleges, Neilcott currently engage a number of  trade and professional apprentices and have done so for a number of years.  Neilcott are excited to be involved with Apprenticeship Scheme’s to identify potential apprentices to support our needs. We see this relationship as a strategic education partnership of the highest order, which combines the needs of our present workforce with the needs of the future. Neilcott understand that apprenticeships offer a proven solution whereby employers can attract motivated individuals who are keen to learn alongside existing employees in a customised training programme which reflects the needs of our organisation.

As proof that the Young Apprenticeship Programme really is beneficial, Neilcott’s first post-16 Apprentice, Jay Sparkes, finished his Young Apprenticeship Programme in 2010 and started a full time post in July of that year. Jay started out on a young apprenticeship programme at Barking and Dagenham College and continued his full time post-16 apprenticeship there. He said “The Young Apprenticeship Programme gave me a head start in getting some practical skills before entering the job market and I would definitely recommend the scheme to other secondary school students. It helped me to get a job I really enjoy – and one where I can keep learning new skills”.  Jay is now working permanently with Neilcott’s supply chain and has become an excellent mentor to new apprentices.
