Neilcott 2016 Charity Kicks off Early

Christmas-JumperNeilcott’s Charity of the Year 2016, is Yorda Adventures.
Yorda supports children and young people with severe learning disabilities. Importantly, they are a not for profit organisation which means that all money within the company must be used to support the aims and purpose of the company without exception.
They provide play and short breaks for children with severe learning disabilities. Most of their play projects are based in Surrey, they run a variety of projects that seek to support families who have children with disabilities. They work in partnership with Dysart School to run their after school club for working parents. The club provides the specialist childcare needed for parents to increase their working hours to go back to training and employment. The school holidays can be a difficult time for families. The young people that Yorda work with often like the structured nature of the school day, the play scheme allows families a few hours break in the day, so that they can spend time with other siblings, do some housework, go to work or have a well-earned rest. The activities are all out and about in the community and as with all of their projects, they tailor plans to fit the young people that they are working with. They also offer adventure holidays which run for two nights and three days and are highly sought after.

Money raising started early with a Christmas Jumper day being held at our Orpington office with staff donating £2 to wear a “jolly” jumper for the day, over £100 has been raised which is an excellent start to our target for next year.
