Young Learners Get in the Zone at Riverside

Local students topped up their knowledge of Barking and Dagenham past and present at a new education centre provided by Neilcott.

24 students from Thames View Junior School went along to the launch of the Learning Zone at Barking Riverside. Neilcott have established a classroom so that students and community groups can find out about the Barking Riverside Development and other aspects of the Borough.

Throughout the morning the children learned about the plans for Barking Riverside, the importance of health and safety upon building sites and history of the area. The youngsters then created artwork that they felt represented the borough. Thames View Junior School head teacher Kerry Shipley said “The children here today make up our school council with two pupils from each class. It’s been a great success and very exciting for them. We hope to bring children here regularly in the future”.

Barking Riverside is one of the largest development sites in Lonodn and is the largest housing development in the Thames Gateway Area.
